Granddaughter Josie just asked me for this recipe, and I realized it wasn’t yet on our food blog, so here it is.
We always wondered why so many people miss the opportunity to infuse flavor into pizza dough. They often simply taste like simple crunchy white bread, while the really great pizza places always have a crust that contains tasty enough ingredients to stand alone as a snack.
This is the best pizza dough recipe we have come up with. The recipe is designed for simple home use. This will make enough for one delicious 12 inch pizza.
”PizzaDough”
3/4 Cup of Warm Water
2 Teaspoons Olive Oil
2 Teaspoons White Sugar
3/4 Teaspoon of Kosher Salt
2 Cups AP Flour
1/4 Teaspoon Onion Powder
1/4 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
1/4 Teaspoon Dried Basil
1 Teaspoon of Active Dry Yeast
Directions
- Add dry ingredients to a large bowl.
- Slowly add oil and water to mix.
- You may need slightly more or less flour until you form a reasonably solid but not sticky dough ball.
- Grease another bowl with some olive oil for the dough.
- Put a bit of flour on your hands and take the dough to form into a ball.
- Put the dough in the oiled bowl.
- Cover with plastic wrap and let the dough rise in a warm spot for 30 minutes.
- Heat your oven to 425 degrees.
- Put parchment paper on a pizza paddle, flour it and then with floured hands, knead the dough and use a rolling pin to form a 12 inch round on the paper.
- Poke holes all over the dough
- Pinch the edges of the dough round to form a slight border.
- Cover the dough, including the edges, with olive oil.
- Cover the dough with pizza sauce (suggest you use our recipe on this blog site).
- Cover with cheese and you favorite toppings
- Place in middle rack in oven and bake for 13 to 15 minutes, but watch until the cheese turns a slight golden brown
- Remove pizza and let it rest for 3 minutes before slicing.
