Kentucky Breakfast Sausage

There’s nothing better than breakfast with good sausage. Some of the best you will taste are down here in Kentucky. We have found that there are many local breakfast sausage blends, and believe it or not, we have tasted some at gas stations and smaller diners that are simply delicious.

After asking many questions and discovering various blend ingredients, which often includes local wildlife, we finally came up with a blend that we think appeals to all.

1 Pound Ground Pork

1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar

¾ Teaspoon Salt

½ Teaspoon Black Pepper

¼ Teaspoon Dried Thyme

¼ Teaspoon Dried Rosemary

½ Teaspoon Dried Sage

1/8 Teaspoon Dried Marjoram

1/8 Teaspoon Ground Nutmeg

1/8 Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper

½ Teaspoon Dried Basil

¼ Teaspoon Dried Garlic Powder

¼ Teaspoon Onion Powder

1 Teaspoon White Vinegar


  1. In a large bowl mix all ingredients well.
  2. Though this sausage can be used immediately, we suggest covering it and placing it in the refrigerator 1 day before use. This allows the ingredients to blend well together.
